Why insurance agencies is different

Insurance agencies face a familiar split: W-2 office staff and CSRs on one side, and 1099 producers and independent agents on the other. The staff expect real benefits. The producers — often the revenue engine — have historically been left to fend for themselves.

We build both sides of that equation. For your W-2 team, we design group medical, dental, and vision plans sized for a small agency. For your producers, we set up guided individual and family enrollment that captures marketplace tax credits — a recruiting and retention story no captive carrier can match.

And because we are an independent agency ourselves, we understand E&O-sensitive conversations, carrier relationships, and why your producers will only trust coverage advice that actually holds up.

We understand your challenges

  • Producers are 1099 and cannot join the agency group plan
  • Small headcounts make traditional group plans expensive
  • Losing good CSRs to agencies that offer real benefits
  • Producer income swings make subsidy planning confusing
  • Owners are too busy selling to shop their own coverage

How we help

  • Group coverage that keeps your office staff from leaving
  • A benefits story that helps recruit and retain producers
  • Individual plans optimized for commission-based income
  • Defined-budget options like QSEHRA and ICHRA to control costs
  • One independent advisor for the principal, staff, and producers

What we put in place

Group plans for W-2 staff

Medical, dental, and vision for your office team — sized for agencies from 2 employees up, with level-funded options that reward healthy groups.

Producer coverage programs

A turnkey enrollment path for 1099 producers into individual and family plans with tax credits — positioned as an agency benefit without classification risk.

Principal & family coverage

Individual, family, and ICHRA strategies for agency owners whose income does not fit a W-2 group plan neatly.

QSEHRA and ICHRA setups

Tax-free reimbursement arrangements that let the agency fund coverage on a defined budget instead of absorbing premium hikes.

Who we help in insurance agencies

  • Independent P&C and life & health agencies
  • Agency principals and owners buying their own coverage
  • 1099 producers and sub-agents needing individual plans
  • CSRs, account managers, and office staff on group plans
  • Captive agents transitioning to independence
  • Real estate brokerages with affiliated insurance operations

The coverage starts with you, but it stays with them.

Employees can keep their benefits for as long as they want — even if they move to a new job.

Frequently asked questions

Can our 1099 producers join the agency group plan?+

No — group eligibility requires W-2 employees, and including producers creates misclassification risk. We set up group coverage for staff plus a guided individual enrollment program for producers instead.

We only have 3 W-2 employees. Can we still get a group plan?+

Yes. Group plans are available for teams as small as 2 W-2 employees, and level-funded or QSEHRA options can make small-group coverage surprisingly affordable.

Can the agency contribute toward producer premiums?+

Yes, carefully. Many agencies offer a fixed monthly stipend producers apply to their own individual plan. We help structure it so it supports recruiting without creating employer-plan compliance issues.

What happens to a producer's coverage if they leave the agency?+

Nothing changes for them — individual plans belong to the producer and are fully portable, wherever they take their book.

Do you work with real estate brokerages too?+

Yes. Brokerages share the same W-2 staff / 1099 agent split, and we run the same dual structure for them. See our real estate industry page for details.
